Welcome to

On this blog, you’ll find all Whitelaw Brae Wind Farm news.

Timeline

2025
FEB

We thank members for their patience whilst we continue to work on important contracts with Thrive Renewables. As members of our other projects will know, there is a lot to do in this pre-construction phase as we nail down contracts.

Early works continue to progress well. Site investigation works are well underway which will help inform the detail design of the wind farm – this is right on track for a project of this size and scale. As soon as we are able to provide you with more information we will do so.

JAN

We are working with Thrive Renewables to facilitate Ripple’s cooperative model and shared ownership of the project, similarly to what we have done on previous projects.

In the meantime, work is progressing on the detailed design and key contracts prior to the start of construction so the programme can be maintained.

If you are interested in taking part in the project or buying additional watts, we hope to restart selling shares in the coop in the not-too-distant future.

2024
DEC

Thrive Renewables announced it has completed the purchase of Whitelaw Brae Wind Farm from BayWa r.e. the original developer of the project.

Read the Press Release here. We plan to work with them to facilitate shared ownership of the project via Ripple’s model.

OCT

We are not currently selling new shares in Ripple Co-op 4 while we work with a potential co-investor to enable the co-op to proceed with the project. We will update you as soon as possible.

AUG

We are delighted that Jamie will be the Project Manager for Whitelaw Brae. Watch his first video on progress so far and the next steps for Whitelaw Brae.

Forestry work is already underway. The next step will be design work then the civil work can start with the access roads being built to enable the turbine foundations and the crane pads to be built to prepare the site for the assembly of the turbines.

The turbines are already being manufactured in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe and as we have done with previous projects we will give you tracking details and footage of their journey to the site when the time comes.

The final stages will be grid connection, commissioning and then energisation in Winter 2026/27. Members who have taken part in Whitelaw Brae will be directly responsible for creating this brand new wind farm that will be generating their source of green electricity into the grid, helping to offset their usage and move them forward on their Net Zero journey.

Their monthly bill savings will help to stabilise their bills for decades to come.

If you have any questions and would still like to take part please get in touch with our Member Services Team by emailing us support@rippleenergy.com

JUL

We’re excited to announce that work is already underway at site, with forestry clearance work now largely complete and detailed design for construction progressing.

Scottish Power are working really well to get all the materials procured to ensure the grid connection is ready on time.
